Hussainabad is a hidden treasure of beauty, peace and harmony. Situated at an altitude of 1800m with panoramic views of Rakaposhi (7788m)in the SE and Snow Dome (5093m) in the west alongwith several sourrounding pastures all above 4000m. From a touristic perspective, it has a wide variety of attractions such as geological, glacialogical, adventure, alpine flora and fauna (Ibex and rare Snow Leopard watching......if someone is lucky enough) as well as present culture. The distance from Gilgit is 60km upriver to Karimabad and 40km downriver from Karimabad off the KKH across Sikandar abad. Since there are no hotels or vice versa in this village (an ecolodge is being planned), visitors are advised to carry their own camping gear and time will tell you the rest!!! Peace is precious to every society and many societies around the globe pay a lot to achieve this unique yet very social phenomena but at times, they fail. In my opinion, peace is not a God gifted phenomena rather it is man made. laws can provide justice not the true spirit of peace such as tolerance doesn't guarantee harmony. It is true that justice and tolerance facilitate peace but as for harmony, someone needs a step or two forward alongwith a constant self accountability, moral awareness, respect for the humanity (not for the colour, religion or region alone) etc. To say that a visitor entering hunza valley must not be worry about his physical or material security. It is free of cost here (but not at any cost) amazing! not it?????? Since there are no hotels or vice versa in this particular village (an ecolodge is being planned), visitors are advised to carry their own camping gear and time will tell you the rest!!! The best season to visit is March-October. The above photo was taken by myself in April 2005, Ooooooooooooooooohhhhhh...lovely! Keep Well For further information about the region please contact hunzamine@yahoo.com
